EEA Grants
The project “Conservation of Biodiversity in the Natural Ancient Oak Tree Reserve Breite, Sighişoara" is supported by a grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Financial Mechanism. The project was deployed in the reserve over two years (May 2009 – April 2011).

Packard Humanities Institute
Main sponsor of the Mihai Eminescu Trust, the American business man David Packard provided financial support in the early period when the Trust undertook the administration of the Breite Reserve, especially for the completion of the management plan. He continues to co-finance some of the management measures implemented for the conservation of the reserve.
Horizon Foundation
Horizon Foundation based in the Netherlands is another constant and essential sponsor of the projects deployed by the Trust. They supported the building of the rangers’ hut in the reserve, which became a visitor information center. Horizon also financed the Breite - Stejăreni traditional farm to support the introduction of controlled grazing on the Breite plateau.
Manfred Hermsen Stiftung
MHS Foundation based in Germany financed one of the first and most important conservation actions implemented by the custodians in the reserve after the management plan was approved. This referred to closing 13 artificial drainage ditches, which helped restore the hydric regime of the Breite Plateau.

Bill Parker, The Flour Mill Ltd
Mr. Bill Parker from the UK is one of the most dedicated friends of the Breite Reserve and of the ancient trees from Transylvania. He “adopted” several veteran oaks, sponsored prices for the winners of the competition “Who can find the oldest tree?” destined to local children, and co-financed the traditional farm Breite - Stejăreni.

Rufford Maurice Laing Foundation
The Rufford Maurice Laing Foundation based in UK helped the custodians put in place a permanent guarding system in the reserve, by supporting the hiring and training of three rangers.

Accor
The French hotel company Accor co-financed the planting campaign “An oak tree for every pupil” deployed in October 2009. The campaign involved over 500 pupils and teachers from 11 schools from Sighișoara town and Șaeș village. Accor finances reforestation project deployed worldwide through their “Plant for the Planet” program.

Irish Tree Society
When they visited the Breite Plateau, the Irish Tree Society representatives were very impressed by the value of the reserve and by the large number of veteran oaks. They consequently decided to sponsor the creation and installation of protective fences around the newly planted oak saplings, in order to ensure the survival of this unique landscape.
NatuRegio
Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt - DBU and Alfred Toepfer Stiftung helped the custodians set the basis of an information and education center on the Breite Plateau, through their program NatuRegio – Trainees for Nature. This included installing 5 information panels near the rangers’ hut and purchasing research equipment and biology books.

Fundația pentru Parteneriat
The “Green Spaces” program deployed by the Environmental Partnership Foundation and MOL Romania provided support for several activities aimed at involving the community and youth of Sighișoara in the conservation of the Breite Reserve. They helped in choosing and celebrating the Day of the Breite Reserve, in producing a travel route and a map of the reserve, and in organizing the planting campaign “An oak tree for every pupil”.

David Jones, Transylvania Consulting Company
Mr. David Jones from the UK made it possible for us to purchase of the goats that currently graze on the Breite Plateau, as a key management measure aimed at keeping the hornbeam invasion under control.
