In October 2009 an oak-planting campaign was organized in the Breite Reserve, with a two-fold purpose: to increase the number of oaks on the plateau and to involve the local youth in the conservation of this natural area.

The campaign took place over 5 days and mobilized over 500 children and 50 adults from Sighişoara town and Şaeş village, who planted over 650 oak saplings. Small fences were built and installed in order to protect the newly planted oak saplings along with other 1,400 young oaks regenerated naturally against the animals that graze on the plateau.
